Lassi Tour
Lassi Tour
Lassi sits about two kilometres south of Argostoli, right where the peninsula starts thinning out. Most people know it for the beaches — Makrys Gialos and Platis Gialos are here, both sandy, both popular, and honestly both worth the walk between them.
Start from the roundabout at the top of Lassi. Head downhill past the hotels and tavernas. The road bends left toward Makrys Gialos — you can't miss it, the beach is long and narrow with sunbeds packed tight in summer. If you keep walking south along the coast path, you'll hit Platis Gialos in ten minutes. Wider, a bit more relaxed. Good snorkeling on the left side near the rocks.
From Platis Gialos, take the road uphill and loop back through the residential streets. There are a few small churches tucked between the villas, and the views over the gulf get better the higher you climb. Budget about two hours if you stop for a coffee. Three if you stop for a swim, which you probably will.
Distance: roughly 4 km loop
Difficulty: Easy, mostly paved
Best time: Morning or late afternoon — midday sun on these beaches is no joke
